About the Training Material
The orientation video, "Developing a Men's Team Ministry to Widows, Widowers and Single Parents, and its accompanying workbook by the same title have been successfully used by hundreds of churches in multiple countries for almost two decades to train thousands of their men in men's team ministry.
The purpose of holding an orientation in your church is to introduce your men to: (1) what the Bible says about obeying Christ's new commandment that Christians love each other as he has loved us; (2) the importance of good works in the Christian life; (3) how our good works should address the pressing needs of fellow believers, especially those of widows, single moms, and fatherless children; and (4) how the men's team ministry model can be used to accomplish this task.
After covering this material, the orientation breaks for ten minutes. During that time the men attending decide if they want to stay and be a part of the ministry. Those who stay after the break are given additional instruction and then formed into teams.
By the end of the two and one-half hour orientation, the church has newly formed teams of men who have been trained in the love of Christ, in the needs of widows and single moms, and in the men's team ministry model. In addition, the men will know who their team members are, what their fellow team members' contact information is, and when their first service day will be. (They will be assigned a care receiver after the orientation and before their first service day.)
In addition to the actual orientation, the workbook has been updated to include an Appendix with a large amount of additional information and Bible studies.
